The effect of spring: How people are reborn with it
Impossible to deny human nature
I have never had the opportunity to experience the changes between the year's seasons as I have during the last few months. Observing how the leaves dry and fall, the trees spend time without any visible leaves and, after a few months, they return to green along with some flowers. It seems like a transition that only occurs in flora, however, I realized that something similar occurs in humans as well.
Arrival in the cold
Before continuing, I must clarify that I am not a psychologist or anything like that, I am just an observer and this is what I think about it. Since I moved to Boston, many people warned me about how bad winter can be, not only because of the cold but also because you can't go outside because of it. In the same way, the absence of the sun in the early hours of the afternoon simulated that the day had ended quickly and so much darkness could dull the energy that an ordinary day is supposed to have.
I didn't understand the consequences this had on the people who live here (or in any state where a bad winter is common) until spring came around. The temperature does not change radically during this season of the year on a daily basis, but the trees begin to show life again. With this gesture, spring gives one or another day of what could be summer with a "high" temperature and you notice how the streets, parks, and any place where people can accumulate outside is full.
Life behind the heat
Unlike my island, where the extreme heat can make us sulfurous and cause us to be in a bad mood, here the heat gives life to social and individual interactions. Something as simple as going for a walk early in the morning or after getting home from work, as well as going to eat somewhere and asking to sit outside. The joy of people, when the temperature plays in their favor, is a valid moment to observe because it is when humans let themselves feel like humans from a more humble and vulnerable point, inviting everyone to enjoy what nature is giving us.
For my part, I don't have a problem with being indoors or in the dark and I think that's why winter didn't mistreat me mentally as it happens to other people in that season of the year. However, I still forget to check the temperature when I go out, I don't get equipped like I'm supposed to and have to ask for mercy. I have not lost the island habit of thinking that no matter what day of the year it is, I know the temperature will always be high. It is interesting how there is a similarity between how nature behaves and how we behave, it is impossible not to say that in one way or another, we are connected.
