Years ago I had the idea of creating a book of short stories based on the experiences people had during undergraduate. I think that at that stage many events occur that do not usually happen at any other stage of life. El bachillerato: Donde todo y nada pasa is a set of short stories about university life where you can identify with one of them or think of someone you know.
The first thing I want to clarify is that no, these are not my stories, nor those of someone close to me. But I chose the topics thinking about the people close to me and my personal experiences. For example, staying in a lodging was not something that happened to me, but I did meet many people who did it and it was their first time living with other people away from their home. I recognize that there are many more stories I could have told, but I wanted to highlight 12 different topics specifically.
In addition to that topic, among the 12 stories I also talk about the empty nest, mental health, sexual exploration, and events that seem catastrophic at the time, but as time goes by they become a funny anecdote to tell, among others. Between story and story, there is a roller coaster of emotions because with the book I seek to remember memories, bring smiles, create reflections, and soften the heart.
Universidad Central de Esperanza is the place that gives home and unites all the stories, basically being the main character. One way or another, everything happens there or is mentioned for some reason, being the only thing that ties the rest of the characters together. When giving life to this place, I can't deny that I thought a lot about my university, although what I want is for each reader to think about their university. If I can transport them to where they studied, I win as a writer.
Several years after I started writing, this idea got into my head and I always dreamed that this had to be my first published book. After several attempts, I made it and I will soon talk much more about it when I present it at 3 p.m. on Saturday, March 23, 2024, at the UPR Ponce Theater (my university). In addition to having written it, it is a book created between family and friends; also dedicated to my mom for always trusting me.
El bachillerato: Donde todo y nada pasa it’s available on Amazon.
