My short story with books
It started later than it seems
My love for reading began as an adult, in the university. I was taking a Spanish class where the professor presented literature to us in another way; he compared it to contemporary songs and current events. On the other hand, at the time, I was going through the first breakup of my first relationship.
Therefore, I was looking for a hobby to clear my mind, outside of what I was already used to doing. So, between, the professor’s creative way of presenting literature and my search for that hobby, I decided to go to the bookstore. However, I went with something in mind and that was to find a book that would show me the history of Pablo Escobar.
That was my first book, the one that I looked for, not that it was at home or that was imposed on me at school to answer some exam. Some people are surprised that this was my first book, however, there’s no better way to start reading than that, on your own. At that time, I went around the bookstore and wrote down other topics that were of interest to me.
Of course, before, I bought a book, read it, and then went in search of the other. I was getting into the habit and didn’t want to overwhelm myself with having too much to read. As time went by, I started to like it so much that as soon as I finished a book (regardless of the time), I would go looking for another.
Sometime later, because of one of the novels I read, my interest in writing short stories began. I felt that I was observing a lot around me and that deserved to be told in writing, not just filed in my head. To this day, it continues to be so. My arrival at books and writing was abnormal, many people think that I read or write since I was little and the truth is that I have not. However, for all my history, I now understand the reasons why it seems so.
In the end, it doesn’t matter so much when and where, but why.
